      The Alpine Rally

      5 days in September 2026

      Do it like the marmot:

      up and down

      through the Alps.

Just imagine: The sun rises over the Alps and its first rays paint golden bands of light on the road in front of you. In the clear morning air, the smell of petrol mingles with the scent of mountain flowers - an aroma that is better than any perfume, because freedom is in the air. Your hands are on the steering wheel of your classic car, the leather of the seat creaks familiarly with every bend. In front of you, the road winds up the mountain in endless hairpin bends and with every bend, your thirst for adventure grows.

A winding Alpine pass in a green summer landscape under a blue sky is one of the many spectacular views that await you on the Murmetli Rally.

For five days, the Murmetli Rally takes you over 23 breathtaking Alpine passes through Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Italy. Each pass road offers new challenges and magnificent views: from snow-covered glaciers glistening in the sun to deep blue lakes sparkling in the valleys. You travel through ancient villages where time seems to have stood still and past sophisticated towns that fascinate with their lively hustle and bustle. Every hour gives you unforgettable moments: be it the roaring echo of your engine in a rocky gorge or the sight of an eagle circling high above the peaks.

Only vehicles with character start at the Murmetli Rally: vintage and classic cars that are at least 20 years old. History comes to life here when gleaming chrome bodies roll through the mountain scenery. You hear the rich roar of the engines and feel the vibrations all the way to the steering wheel - every kilometre is a dance between driver, machine and asphalt. Every bend, every bump in the throttle brings a smile to your face, because no modern car offers moments like these.

Incidentally, the name "Murmetli" is Rhaeto-Romanic and refers to a marmot, the cute Alpine creature that likes to draw attention to itself by whistling. Just like these cheeky marmots that peek curiously out of their burrow at the side of the road, this rally epitomises the playful wildness and rustic charm of the Alps. You might even spot one or two of these little animals smiling at you and quietly wishing you luck along the way.

Your road trip begins and ends in Weggis, picturesquely situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne. There, where the mountain peaks are reflected in the calm lake in the morning, you start your journey. With every metre of altitude you cover, you leave everyday life further down in the valley behind. You enjoy the panorama as kilometre after kilometre disappears beneath your wheels and the wind blows through the open window. In the evening, you sit together with other enthusiasts - perhaps over a hearty Swiss speciality or an Italian espresso, depending on which country you are in.

After five eventful days, you return to Weggis - with not only a little dust and a few new scratches on your paintwork, but above all a heart full of memories. All the images flash before your inner eye: endless roads over high passes, smiling faces at the wheel and the joy of every stage you have mastered. The official destination has been reached, but the journey was actually the destination - and what a journey it was!

Are you ready for this adventure? Then fasten your seatbelt, start the engine and feel the adrenaline pumping. The Murmetli Rally is calling with open roads, high peaks and the promise of freedom on four wheels. Sign up now and become part of this unforgettable road trip through the Alps!

      How does this rally work?

At the Murmetli Rally, you can only prepare yourself and your vehicle. You will only find out everything else at the start, where you will receive your road book.

You will find various tasks in the road book. Some can be completed during the entire rally, others can only be completed on the respective day.

These daily tasks also specify the route you have to take. As you only know the destinations, it is up to each team to find their own way there. If possible, take country roads unless the road book specifies otherwise. This allows you to experience the country and its people up close.

For example, a photo task or a short search awaits you at your destination. You can either take a mobile photo printer with you or visit a drugstore on the penultimate day. You can add your results - photos or answers - to the road book so that it ends up looking like a travel diary.

The road book also tells you how far you should drive that day. This gives you an orientation for your overnight stay. In the early afternoon, you can then book accommodation or a campsite using suitable apps.

Hardly anything can be planned in advance, but that is precisely the appeal of adventure: the unknown. Embrace it - you'll see how liberating it can be. You may reach a goal, but you don't have to.
